aging in place
What is Aging-in-Place?
Aging-in-Place means being able to remain in one's home safely, independently and comfortably regardless of age. It means the pleasure of living in a familiar environment throughout our maturing years and the ability to enjoy the daily rituals and the special events that enrich all our lives. It means being able to call your house your home for as long as possible.*
What is a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist?
The Certified Aging-in-Place designation was developed by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in partnership with AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) and is administered by NAHB. Professionals who have earned the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist designation are experts in designing and building aesthetically-enriching, barrier free living environments. They have been trained in the unique needs of the older adult population and apply strategies and techniques to provide comprehensive and practical home modification solutions.*

Why hire a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist?
When you hire me as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist, you are buying a service that I combine with my interior design training and skills. I provide this service on a consultation basis and give you a written roadmap of recommendations following our in-home visit. If renovations are in order, you will eventually need to hire a contractor/remodeler to make the modifications to your home.
I am also available to present on the topic of Aging-in-Place to small or large groups.
